Hacienda Del Sol

The 2nd Annual Tucson Heritage Food & Wine Festival

A little rain delivered on a cool September breeze didn’t dampen spirits at the Second Annual Tucson Heritage Food & Wine Festival!

A little rain delivered on a cool September breeze didn’t dampen spirits at the Second Annual Tucson Heritage Food & Wine Festival! Over 300 food-fascinated and locavore curious guests enjoyed delicious samples of Southern Arizona wine, beer, spirits, meat and produce presented by over 20 local purveyors. Staged as a luxury farmers’ market in the shadow of the Catalina Mountains, the event not only featured the fine fruits of farmer and ranchers’ harvests, but near each display, nationally recognized culinary talent transformed ingredients into amazing dishes for tasting.

Hacienda Del Sol’s Executive Chef Bruce Yim and Pastry Chef Shelli Soto, Zona 78’s Chef Brently Singletary, Carriage House’s Devon Sanner, Ten55’s Chef Ivor Cryderman, PY Steakhouse’s Chef Roderick Le Desma, and Maynard’s Chef Brian Smith delighted palates with dishes ranging from a whole roasted pig to calabacitas and Sonoran Hotdogs to gourmet beer brats.

Of course, before, during and after bites of Tucson’s finest culinary offerings, whistles were whet with generous samples of Arbuckle coffee; wines from Callaghan Vineyards, Chateau Tumbleweed, Sonoita Vineyards, and Dos Cabezas WineWorks; adult suds from Ten55 Brewing & Sausage House, Iron John’s Brewing Company, and Dragoon Brewing Co.; and the friendliest of spirits from Hamilton Distillers, Elgin and Distillery.

With lovely live music floating on the night air, guests meandered through the property to tour Hacienda Del Sol’s organic Chef’s garden, visit the above-mentioned booths and those presented by Barrio Bread, Country Harvest Pantry, Durazo’s Poco Loco Specialty Salsas, E&R Pork, Native Seeds/SEARCH, Robbs Family Farm, San Rafael Valley Grass-Fed Beef, SouthWinds Farm, and Tortilleria Arevalo.

The evening was a resounding success with fun, food, and a bit of new knowledge had by all! Tucson Village Farm is the beneficiary of proceeds from the Second Annual Tucson Heritage Food & Wine Festival. Funding will be applied to support their continued amazing work connecting young people to a healthy food system.

Food has long provided the opportunity to nourish bodies and communities. The Hacienda Del Sol Guest Ranch Resort is proud to facilitate this process by offering an event to celebrate our region’s unique offerings and the people that bring them to the table! Stay tuned for the date of the 2019 Tucson Heritage Food & Wine Festival!
